DIY Smartphone Case … all brand-new!

This quick & easy DIY will help avoiding all possibility of confusion when it comes to your smartphone! All you need is a poker work pen and possibly your leather case you’d like to decorate. I was bored out of my mind, seeing my smartphone case all blank and monotone, which is why I decided to brand it with my favorite quote from Ze Frank’s Invocation of beginnings  (video link down below). But: I have to warn you. Branding leather stinks!  Therefore, you should only try it in a well ventilated room or – even better – directly out in the open (for example on your balkony). You’ll need: a poker work pen, the leather case (which you want to decorate), some paper, a pen and a thick piece of cloth or leather for tryouts.   Make sure that it is real leather you’re working with. Imitations will only melt, smell bad and look awful afterwards. If you like, you can start right away. Alternatively, you can scribble some drafts on a piece of paper …

Sweet & easy: Dessert: Apple Crumble

My most favorite fruit next to strawberries are apples. The variety of recipes is nearly endless. Let’s add one more to the pile, shall we? 🙂  Especially when time is running short, we are looking for something delicious but with relatively little effort. So: grab yourself some apples and let’s do this! This is all you need: apples (depending on how big your oven dish is, 5-6), an oven dish :-), apple juice, some cinnamon (if you are into that stuff), 300g flour, 100-150g butter, 100g sugar, a small kitchen knife, a bowl and, as a serving suggestion: vanilla ice cream. And that’s how you do it: Preheat the oven to 160-180ºC/350ºF/gas 4. Slice your apples into small pieces. If you like, you can peel them before that. Put them into your oven dish along with 100-200ml apple juice. If you want cinnamon in there, mix it with the juice before you pour it over your apples. Now mix the flour, butter and suger in a bowl until your dough is nice and firm. Do not …

DIY: embroidery hoop: a stitch in time saves nine!

You are looking for some wall decoration that sticks to everyone’s mind? Ok. It’s a pun, yes. And not a very good one either. But the idea of using embroidery hoops to decorate a wall is good … not new … but good. And good is good enough for me to try it, for embroidery hoops are the perfect complement to picture frames, postcards, canvases and stuff. I also made a special one for John Green’s famous book The Fault in our stars. If you have read the book already, you will know that „this is not a pipe“ :-D. All you need are of course embroidery hoops in different sizes and to your liking, some leftover fabric, embroidery needles (with dull ends … very finger-friendly indeed 🙂 ), embroidery thread, quadrille paper, a pencil, pliers, some string or nails and a hammer to put it up later. And this is how you stick it to … the hoop First, you need a motive. I scribbled all my drafts on quadrille paper. For quadrille paper can be of great …
